We've all heard the phrase, "that's a hard pill to swallow" and lately I've taken a few of those pills. Maybe that's why I decided to make easy pills to swallow. While working on cookies as a gift for a doctor, these little pills came to mind.
Easy Pills to Swallow!
Caution: They are habit forming.
After making the pill cookies, I needed a way to package them up.
Possibly me.
I left the name on the label blank for you to use on your own patients. Just print it out and write in the name.
I printed the labels on Avery White Shipping Labels #8164 (3 1/3" x 4")
After making the pill cookies, I needed a way to package them up.
What a fun way to make someone feel better, one cookie at a time.
After finding several fun prescription labels online, I put them all together and made the label.
Once the cookies were carefully placed in the pill bottle...the label was added.

Grab your lab coat and we'll get started.
Roll out your favorite sugar cookie dough.
Using the Wilton Brownie cutter, which cuts multiple cookies at a time, I cut several "pills" in minutes.
Bake as directed and cool.
The not so new kid on the block is decorating "tip less" using disposable bags.
Line a glass with the disposal bag (or any pastry bag) and fill with the royal icing.
Close the end.
Also, make a batch of red royal icing. (Not shown).
Fill another tip less bag with red royal icing, cut off the tip and begin piping around half of the cookie.
Completely fill in the red half of the cookie and let dry.
Once the red is dry, fill the other half of the cookie with white royal icing.
Before the white is dry, immediately sprinkle with multicolor sprinkles. (I placed the cookie on a white paper plate to catch the excess sprinkles.)
Shake off the excess sprinkles.
Now, that's an easy pill to swallow don't you think?
I almost forgot, the cookies that started it all...simple cookies for the Doctor.

After mixing your favorite royal icing recipe, add a few drops of Bright White gel paste to make your royal icing even brighter.
